# Night/Low Light

As photofinish cameras takes images at a high rate, there is not much time for light to reach the sensor. Therefore good light is important, especially at dawn and night.

The following tips help to make sure images are still readable:

* External light sources should be placed behind the camera
* Light at the finish line should not be below 300 lux, 500 lux and above is better.
 * This can be measured with smartphone apps. Smartphone should be placed at the finish line and the direction of measurement facing the camera (usually this means measurement is through selfie camera and therefore having display facing the camera)
* For flickering to be reduced, best are LED sources
