# Passings

This mode is suitable for showing the result whenever an athlete cross a timing point. When several athletes cross the timing point in short intervals, the passings are queued up and the interval can be specified when switching.

For this to work oyu have to setup the following:

* Select the timing point to listen to for passings
* Enter the duration for switching from passings mode to idle mode (e.g. 5s after a passing happened fall back to idle mode)
* Enter the duration for switching between passings if more than one is queued up (e.g. 3s to faster iterate through the queue)
* Select a mode to display when idle, meaing when no passing happened.

In the box on the right you see the bib numbers are currently queued up.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.dbnetsoft.com/dbnetsoft/raceresultexchange/operation-modes/displayboard/modes/passings.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
